Oregon is preparing to roll out the nation’s first psilocybin licensing program. This is an exciting development for an industry that has spent decades mired in social stigma and criminal prosecution, and is likely the beginning of a new era of legalized psychedelics.
Naturally, psychedelics experts and aficionados around the world are wondering how they can participate in this trailblazing licensing program. The state recently released draft regulations laying out many proposed details of the Oregon Psilocybin Services (OPS) program, and is set to begin accepting applications on Jan. 2, 2023.
Under the law establishing the program, all psilocybin purchased and consumed legally in the state must be produced by a licensed psilocybin manufacturer, and must be provided to clients at licensed psilocybin centers during an administration session. Psilocybin will be made available to everyone 21 and older, and access will not require a doctor’s referral or prescription.
